COACH JOsh Bryan
Josh has been an amazing contributor to Competitive Edge and we are so grateful for his time, hard work and friendship. He is dedicated, knowledgeable and loved by his wrestlers! Josh focuses primarily on the younger Edge members surrounding his young son, Joel, but happily and readily steps up for the older members on a regular basis. He provides strategic wrestling knowledge, concrete support and is a great role model for young wrestlers. We are grateful to have the support of Josh and his wife, Holly!
Josh wrestled for Alleghany High School in Virginia from 2004 through 2007. He was a team captain his junior and senior years and was awarded "Most Outstanding Wrester" in both 2006 and 2007. He was a VHSL AA State Placer in 2006. Josh was the first and only wrestler from his high school to receive all state honors during his career. After graduating high school, Josh continued his education at the Virginia Military Institute and majored in mechanical engineering. He had a short stint during his freshman and sophomore year where he wrestled with the VMI Wrestling team. After he graduated college, he had several opportunities to work with HS level wrestlers with a grassroots wrestling club that was formed in his hometown. After moving to WV in 2016, Josh took a hiatus from wrestling until his then four year old boy, Joel, was ready to give it a shot.
“This will be my third year coaching at Competitive Edge. We have an excellent group of coaches that can help your wrestler take the next steps in their journey. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to work with these young wrestlers and have a front row seat to seeing them achieve their goals on the mat!” - Josh Bryane

"Josh is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. He’s a great coach but most importantly a great man. A true leader for the youth to look up to."

"This guy deserves every bit of the recognition although he would never ask for it. Treats everyone of these kids like his own and finds a way to push them to be great while always lifting them up. So many of these kids look up to you (including my own) and there is no question you are helping shape them into strong men and women. Thank you!"
