COACH Sam Moore
From the very inception of Competitive Edge wrestling, Sam Moore has been a cornerstone of our community—a true embodiment of the phrase "the student becomes the teacher." As we reflect on the journey we've embarked on together, we are immensely thrilled and grateful to have Sam's unwavering support, this time in the role of leader and coach.
Sam is not just an outstanding wrestler and a successful young man; he is also an incredible friend. His welcoming and energetic spirit creates an environment where wrestlers feel both motivated and supported. Though Sam does not have children of his own yet, his commitment to fostering the next generation of wrestlers is evident in everything he does. Sam primarily focuses on guiding our older Edge members, continually pushing them to excel while maintaining a fun and engaging practice atmosphere. Always ready to rumble on the mat, Sam brings a dynamic energy to every session. His reliability and dedication to hard work inspire those around him to strive for their best. He practices what he preaches, instilling a sense of discipline and integrity in all his coaching endeavors. Sam wrestled for George Washington High School from 2012-2016. When his high school wrestling career was finished he had amassed 156 career wins and was the third wrestler in GW history to become a 4 time state placer, placing 6th as a Freshman, 4th as a Sophomore, State Finalist as a Junior, and 5th as a Senior.
After high school Sam went to WVU to study Civil Engineering. In 2020 he graduated and now works his family’s drilling company (Enviroprobe Integrated Solutions, inc.) in the Charleston area. Sam married his wife AbiGail last year and they now live in the Teays Valley area.

“"After high school I took a break from wrestling and coaching but a few years I ago started getting back into coaching. Now Competitive Edge is part of my weekly routine and I really enjoy getting the opportunity to give back to a Club that gave so much to me. Much of my success as a high school wrestler I credit to the original Competitive Edge and Coach Mark." - Coach Sam Moore
